January is a Great Time to Visit Disneyland!

We discovered something on our spur-of-the-moment trip to California last week. January is a great time to visit Disneyland! There are nearly no lines at all and the weather is quite mild...especially if you leave three feet of snow and below zero temperatures. It did get a little chilly at night and we had to wear jackets, but I'm not complaining!

We stayed at a motel with a "kid suite" which meant we had two rooms and two bathrooms! (Mickala and Karissa were pretty pleased with that.)

Splash Mountain is still one of our favorite rides. Mike and I rode it twice, along with our other favorite ride, It's a Small World. (Okay, it's only my favorite ride, but he was a very good sport to ride two times with me.) My favorite new ride is Soaring Over California.

We also found a place that serves delicious clam chowder in a soup bowl, with outdoor seating right next to a river overlooking California Adventure. I loved it at night with all the lights. I could have eaten two bowls of soup and stayed there for another half hour if we hadn't already been late to watch the parade, for which we were able to get the best seats we've ever had.

The only thing that was missing was some of the rest of our family. It made us look forward to the next family reunion.

A great way to start the new year!

January is always a good month for me. I am more organized than at any other time of the year. So far this year, I have

  • started a diet and lost 4 pounds!
  • begun reading the Book of Mormon again
  • made a long list of goals for the year; one of them is to learn how to take and add pictures to my posts
  • changed the colors on my blog to something much prettier
  • scheduled a trip to Disneyland in January (quite a spur-of-the-moment event that came about when it started snowing for the umptienth time this winter)
  • made plans for February's Sweetheart Dinner and March's Enrichment meeting
  • discovered several missing ancestors on the familty tree

Not a bad start. I hope we all have a great 2008!

The Best Christmas Stocking Ever!

I know that Christmas was over a long time ago, but there is something I just can't left unsaid. I had the best Christmas stocking this year! I kept thinking what a wonderful job Santa did this year; I knew that he had placed an order for some special candies, but I was completely surprised by some of the other surprises; those wonderful earmuffs that actually fit snugly the way I've always wanted ear muffs to fit, the vinal sign I admired at the Christmas craft fair, the authentic Mexican vanilla that makes my frosting taste so much better, the MaryKay lotion, the Love languages book that dad and I can take on our trip to Jamaica,, the anti-fog goggles to use when we go 4-wheeling, the much, much needed pot holders, and the list goes on. Anyway, I just wanted to give Santa and his elves a big thank-you for a job well done!
